Brantford Slow Roll & GLOW RIDES – Free – Party Pace
Some of you may ask, what's a Slow Roll? What's a Glow Ride? (if you know and just want to see schedule, it's below this intro).
I first heard about Slow Roll's from Jason Hall in Detroit. It started with Jason and his buddy, Mike, who wanted to see their city, the parts they'd never been to and thought the best way to do that was by bicycle. They decided to go to different part of the city every week and bring another rider to make the ride bigger. Ten years later, between 2,000 and 3,000 riders could turn up on any given Tuesday.
The bicycle is a great way to see a town or city especially our city, travelling at "the speed of discovery". Join us as we explore Brantford by cycling in a different neighbourhood every Tuesday night. We ride at a party pace hence the name "Slow Roll". I mean seriously, our mascot is a sloth.
For all Slow Roll's we meet at 6:45 and roll out at 7pm. Locations vary, check schedule below.
Exploring a city is even more fun at night. On the last Saturday of every month, we meet just before dusk to wrap our bikes in lights and glow sticks (thanks to Mary Palka Real Estate) and then we go for a 45 - 60 minute Glow Ride.
Start time for Glow Rides vary depending on dusk, check schedule below.
Jason and Mike have registration and a waiver for their bike ride so we do too. It's part of the on-line sign up form in ride descriptions below.
This event is free to the public as Heron Head Bikes pays the insurance for the event. The insurance company requires all riders to register so we know who you are in case of an emergency. Like many things in life, riding your bike does involved some risk. It also helps us determine if we will do the ride. We like to have a group
All bikes must have working front and rear lights. You are responsible for your bike and yourself. Get ready, it’s going to be great!
Please let us know you're coming along for the ride by signing up below.
Slow Rolls are over for 2024. Thanks to everyone that joined us this year! We're looking forward to next year and changes from your suggestions.
In case of inclement weather, we will make "ride/no ride" decision after consulting www.brantfordweather.ca.
