The Schwinn Traveller was introduced in 1950 and was designed originally for extensive everyday use.
The Japanese made Traveller III was introduced in 1978 and was in production for two years. In 1980, Schwinn dropped the “III” and the model was simply the “Traveller”.
It was discontinued by Schwinn in 1988 when Schwinn started to phase out its traditional lightweight steel road bike lineup. Consumers were moving to new bike designs like hybrids and multi-sport bikes.
